James Harvey Dickson, Sr. 85, of Dunedin, Florida passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at home after a long illness. Born in Auburn, New York, he was the son of the late Adam and Christina (Harvey) Dickson.
James graduated from West High School in 1950. He was a veteran of both the US Air Force and US Navy having served a total of eight years. He graduated from Cornell University in Ithaca NY in 1958. He received his Master’s Degree from Cortland, NY IN 1970.
He was a beloved and respected teacher at Mynderse Academy from 1970 – 1994 in Seneca Falls, NY, where he made his home for many years. He always said “He never met a student he didn’t like”.
He retired in 1994, where he made his home for many years in Dunedin, FL.
He was predeceased by his first wife Doris (Amidon) Dickson, and his son Dana Dickson. James is survived by his loving wife Judith Dickson; his son James Jr. (Linda) Dickson of Las Vegas, NV; his daughter Susan (Barry) Warrick of Seneca Falls, NY; His son Adam (Tia) Dickson of Seneca Falls, NY; his stepdaughter Debby (Mark) Urella of Spring Hill FL; his stepson Jeffrey (Sandra) Wonson of Bradford, NH; his brother Richard (MaryAnn) Dickson; his sister Melva (Richard) Mendzef of Auburn, NY.
He also leaves 13 grandchildren, which were his pride and joy, as well as 11 great grandchildren.
There will be a celebration of life held in his honor in the summer of 2018.
