Porrini, Pasqual S. (“Pat” “Putzie” ) died peacefully in Clearwater, FL at age 96, surrounded by his children. Pat, truly part of the “greatest generation” was born in West Philadelphia, and after graduating from Overbrook HS became a ship fitter at the Philadelphia Navy Base during World War II. Thereafter he was a helicopter test flight engineer and ultimately an electrical engineer. He played football in the semi-professional Knute Rockne league, is a member of the PA Bowlers Hall of Fame, earned a gold medal for the United States bowling team in world competition, and then at age 66 became golf club champion at Hercules Golf and Country Club.
He embraced all things intellectual, political, athletic, musical - and was passionate about dancing, up until his last day. His family however, claimed his heart most fully. He is predeceased by parents Nicholas and Anna; sisters, Mary (Fran)and Edith (Hank); wife, Helen; son, Denny and daughter-in-law, Sandy. Pat is survived by sons, Nick (Alise), and Paul (Christine) and daughter, Trish Burdo (Rocky), and daughter-in-law Bobbie. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lorien, Jason, Rocky, Katie, Nicholas, Peter, Tommy, Julianna and Christian, and great-grandchildren, Gianna, Tessa, Ella, Noella and Livia, and soon to be, Baby Porrini. Pat is also survived by many dear and loving nieces, nephews and friends from every corner of his life.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, July 10 at St. Matthias Church, Bala Cynwyd, PA. Visitation 9-11 a.m., followed by Mass at 11 a.m., and celebration luncheon afterwards
