Sherry Lee Leiter (Throckmorton) 2/11/1951 - 10/31/2017
Sherry Lee Leiter (Throckmorton), 66, of Riverview, Florida, died Tuesday October 31, 2017 at Morton Plant Hospital. She was born on February 11, 1951, in Franklin, Ohio, where she was raised by her loving parents Thelma and Harold Throckmorton. She retired from the Walt Disney Company in February 2017 after 17 years with the company. Sherry dedicated her life to making magic at the Disney Reservation Center in Tampa, Florida. The magic she made did not stop after work, she carried that magic with her everywhere she went. This dedication to the Disney standards earned her the Walt Disney Legacy Award, which is the highest award given to any cast member throughout the company. Sherry will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and nana. Her family was what she held most dear to her heart. The love she had could be seen and witnessed by all she met. Sherry accepted Christ as her Lord and Saviour and was baptised as a sign of her faith, when she was a young child. She married the love of her life, (Gary), and their family grew with the birth of her two children. A short time later Sherry and her family moved to Florida where they raised their children throughout the Saint Petersburg area. Sherry was a hard worker and dedicated mother and wife. This was evident by the love and care she gave to her husband and children. No matter how long she worked, or tired she was, Sherry always had time for her family. Sherry is survived by her mother, Thelma Throckmorton; three sisters, Judith Lang, Linda (Frank) Gross, Angela (Rick) Tuttle; brother, Harold Craig Throckmorton; daughter Kasie (Dan) Ivory; son Christopher (Lauren) Leiter; three granddaughters, Tala Ivory, Tabitha Ivory, Kierra Leiter; and two grandsons, Colby Leiter, Collin Leiter. Sherry will be missed but has left us all with an example of love that will last forever and a day. She will be buried along side her husband Gary Leiter at Bushnell National Cemetery and her service will be private. Her family asks in lieu of flowers, to please make a donation to the Melanoma Research Alliance. Please visit www.curemelanoma.org for more information.
