Donald J. Rickus

Donald Rickus, 81 of New Port Richey passed away March 16, 2014. He was born in Farmington, Missouri to the late Martin W. and Marie Rickus. A three sport lettermen athlete at Farmington High School, he graduated in 1950. Don moved to California where he attended college and played football. He married Nora Perry and started a family before moving back to Missouri. Working in heavy construction, he was proud of projects he worked on like the Arch and Busch Stadium in St. Louis and Kansas City Arrowhead Stadium. Tired of the cold weather he came to New Port Richey in 1971 and never wanted to leave. Don loved fishing and making jewelry and enjoyed a long list of friends. He was owner and operator of concrete contracting companies until he retired in 1990. Preceded in death by his parents, brother Edward and children Michael and Debbie. Don is survived by his loving family daughter Cindy Buckley (Larry), son Martin (Irene) and brother Wendell. 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, March 21, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. at the Seaside Inn in Port Richey. No Flowers , No Regrets, No Tears.
