Kathleen Carol (McGinty) Blackmer
May 19, 1946 - April 27, 2022
Kathy Blackmer of Fostoria, MI (aged 75) passed away peacefully on April 27, 2022 in Clearwater, Florida at the home of her daughter and son in law. Kathy will be remembered for the way she lived her life which is summed up by her ‘mom-isms’ which included ‘chill out’, ‘oh...duh’ and ‘luv ya’ hon’. As a child she studied ballet and was an avid swimmer; as an adult, she was a fierce Bingo player. Kathy’s greatest strengths were her resilience in overcoming life’s obstacles and helping others find peace in their lives in tough times. Kathy was a great listener but had some fantastic stories as well. She particularly loved talking about her hay day with her late husband Ernie and all the antics those two could conjure up and was the first to tell you how to survive raising six kids (buy some land with some hills and a lake, build them a go-kart track and send them to play outside)! Kathy is preceded in death by her parents; John McGinty, Richard and Ernestine Wiznerowicz; her husband Ernie Blackmer, her brother Johnny McGinty, grandson Everett ‘Tyler’ Hartwick and great grandson, Gabreal Hartwick. Kathy is survived by her children, Renee (Al) LaBair, Blaine (Dawn) Priebe Jr., Cynthia (Jim) Williams, Lori Hartwick, Tim (Mary-Jo) Blackmer and Tamara (Mark) Manning; her brother Pat (Lucy) McGinty and her sister Donna (Robert) Johncox; as well as her grand-children; Kendra (Kyle) Eaves, Chelsea (Frank) Buhl, Connor (Carrie) LaBair, Alex (Taylor) MacDonald, Jaclyn Priebe, Bryan Priebe, Max Curtis, Dylan Hartwick, Logan Hartwick, Joshua Blackmer and Alex Blackmer as well as a slew of great grand-children. A private service will be held this summer at her final resting place, alongside her husband Ernie at the Watertown Township Cemetery, Fostoria, MI. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
