Lucinda Lee Whitehead Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Whitehead, Lucinda Lee Carson of Dunedin, died Monday, January 18, 2016. She was born in Asheville, North Carolina to Johnnie Adelaide Guffey and Frank Gerald Carson and grew up in Ft. Myers, Florida. She graduated from Florida State University with her BA degree and began teaching in Ft. Myers, Tallahassee, and Tampa. This led her to Dunedin High School where she taught for 30 years, retiring in January 1994 after a total of 40 years in the classroom. Her students over the years were her heart and soul, her legacy will live on with so many of them for years to come. Teaching was her LOVE! She was a member of Phi Mu, Delta Kappa Gamma, American Association of University Women, Florida Retired Teachers Association, and the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, and very involved with the Dunedin Fine Arts Center. She loved to travel and her favorites were San Francisco, London and Cashiers, North Carolina.She is survived by her husband of 60 years Hulan Edward Whitehead; sister Carole Carson Kelley and nephews Matthew and Andrew DeVore; daughters Wales Olivia Whitehead and Whitney Lee Wiggins; and grandsons Carson Blake Wiggins and Connor Lee Wiggins.A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 1pm at The Church of the Good Shepherd in Dunedin, Florida.In lieu of flowers, a Circle of Caring Youth Scholarship Fund has been set up at The Dunedin Fine Arts Center in her honor.
