Marcia Lamb Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Marcia Ingram Lamb, age 70, died at home overlooking the ocean in Dunedin, Florida surrounded by family on March 12th, 2015. Marcia was born July 14, 1944 in Eastport, Maine to loving parents Helen and Mason Ingram. After a joyous childhood in Enfield, NH and Norwich, VT, with her sister Nancy Seitz, Marcia attended Smith College. At 19, she met Bill and they fell in love immediately. They shared fifty years together creating a joyful, blessed life with their children, Lisa, Victor and Mindy and their spouses Tom, Lori and Mike. She worshipped her grandchildren: Ashley, Mason, Maddie, Ayuna, Carson, Caden and Payton.Marcia had a fulfilling career as a leader in non-profits and government. In Louisville, KY, she worked to create affordable housing via her job with Jefferson County and then directed Phase I of the Broadway Project, a downtown revitalization initiative. In Boston, she was the Assistant Secretary of Housing for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and was grateful to be able to continue her work creating affordable housing. She then helped grow the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC), a non-profit that helped improve inner cities by empowering local businesses. She also loved helping her beloved National Parks as director of the National Parks Foundation in Washington, DC. Most recently she worked in the Twin Cities to assist non-profits with the consulting firm, Hansen, Henley, Yoder, and Lamb. She also served on the board of directors of the Alaska Conservation Foundation and was so grateful to be able to work to preserve the wilderness she loved. In Louisville, she was active in the Thomas Jefferson Unitarian Church where she founded the very prestigious annual art show. Over the years, she was also a member of the North Andover Unitarian Church in Massachusetts, the White Bear Unitarian Universalist Church in Minnesota, and the Rogue Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Oregon.Marcia had many passions such as painting, jewelry making, gardening, traveling, writing, photography, camping, reading, yoga, meditation, walking, running, shopping for bargains, and planning events to bring people together. She loved hiking in the mountains and walking on the beach, enjoying the wonder and beauty of the natural world. She loved singing folk songs around the campfire with family. She especially loved any activities that involved her kids and grandkids, including afternoons out on the boat, art projects, attending grandkids' sports and dance events, and playing games together as a family. Her greatest passion was giving.Marcia improved countless communities and lives because of her untiring dedication to others. She lived her whole life to reach out and bring joy to others. She is preceded in death by her parents and survived by her sister, husband, children, their spouses, and grandchildren.Memorials celebrating Marcia's life will be held later.
