SMITH, Robert Rich 82, of Safety Harbor passed away at home on September 26, 2013.He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Theresa Ann Smith, nAC.e Guernsey, son Robert (Sally) of Columbia, Maryland, and two granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, James C. and Elizabeth R. Smith, his brothers James C., Jr., and Craig R., and his sister Madeleine Ross.Bob was born in Denver, Colorado. He attended the Loomis Institute, Windsor, Connecticut, from 1945 to 1949. He was a member of the Class of 1953 at Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticut, earning a B.A. in economics. For many years Bob served as an executive officer of the Chase Manhattan Bank, New York, NY, starting as a credit man in 1953 and serving in many capacities. In 1966 Bob served as a loaned executive in the International Executive Service Corps, advising the Banco Nacional de Fomento, AsunciA?n, Paraguay. In 1987 he transferred to the newly established Chase Bank of Florida, N.A., as its chief credit officer, and retired in 1990.Bob was a member of Robert Morris Associates in the New York and Tampa chapters, a member of the National Association of Credit Men, and an associate member of the Urban Land Institute. He was a member of the Finance Subcommittee of the New York World's Fair from 1962 through 1965, and served as an officer of the Staten Island Museum and Institute of Natural History.Over the years Bob also cultivated many activities and hobbies.
