Delton D. Haynes of Tampa, Florida passed away on August 25, 2021. He was born in Kansas on October 10th, 1938. He resided in Tampa for the past two decades.
Delton lived his life in a very healthy way and was young at heart. Age was just a number to him, as he was a consummate speed walker and rode his bike to run errands. In high school, he was an all around athlete and avid competitor. He continued his love of sports by playing softball and bowling into adulthood, in addition to coaching his kids in baseball and soccer.
Delton married Mildred Martin right after high school and started a family at a young age. He was a good father and is survived by his five children and their spouses - Doug (Son) and Mary Lou Haynes (Daughter-in-law), Tracy (Son) and Marsha Haynes (Daughter-in-law), Denise (Haynes) Sutton (Daughter), Stacey Haynes (Daughter) and Beverly Miller (Daughter-in-law), and Brian Haynes (Son). He is also survived by seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. After 22 years of marriage, Millie and Delton decided to divorce, but were always on good terms.
Delton was preceded in death by his father Harold Haynes, mother Bernice (Stout) Spratt and brother Darrel Haynes.
Delton will be missed by his family, friends and community. He was known as a loyal friend and held long-time relationships with hometown friends from high school.
