Dorothy Joan Ruth, 91, of Palm Harbor (formerly Hollywood), Florida, passed away on December 6, 2020. She passed away peacefully with her children surrounding her.
Joan was born in New York and moved to Florida in the early 1950’s. She was a resident of Palm Harbor since 2014 having moved from Hollywood where she had resided since 1955. Prior to retirement, Joan worked for Sheridan Vocational School working in the guidance department. She enjoyed cooking dinners for her many friends and family and was known for her yummy potato salad. There was a running joke that Joan experimented with new recipes on her friends and family. She also enjoyed sewing, baking, movies, and reading. She loved to watch all the Law and Order television shows and recently was drawn back to all the old TV shows like Perry Mason.
Joan is survived by her children Donna Diane Kelly (David), Robert Ruth (Robin), Janet Ruth, and William Ruth; grandchildren Mindy Dabros (Christian), Joshua Kelly (Brittany), Jared Kelly, Christina Gardner, and Logan Ruth; great grandchildren Heaven Velez, Kyra Kelly, Robert Gardner, Kinley Kelly, Elizabeth Gardner, and Reed Dabros; her sister Patricia Vlha; nieces/nephews Vicki Fabiano, Karen Bracalento, and John Vlha (Laura). She was preceded in death by her husband Wesley R. Ruth and very recently her youngest child, James W. Ruth.
A graveside service will be held on January 8, 2021 at 12 noon at Fred Hunter’s Memorial Cemetery East.
